Billy Gene Weldon, Jr., of Maysville was born on March 8, 1949, in Madill, Oklahoma to Billy Gene Weldon and Mary (Stevens) Weldon. He passed from this life on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, in Dallas, Texas at the age of 67 years. Bill grew up in Madill graduating with the Madill High School class of 1967. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from East Central University and entered the education profession as a teacher and coach, first at Wayne and then Marietta. In 1979, he continued his career in his home town of Madill. He went on to earn a master's degree in education and administrative credentials, and eventually served as assistant principal then principal of Madill High School before accepting the position of superintendent of Maysville Public Schools in 1995. He continued there 7 years before serving as superintendent of schools for Wynnewood from 2002 to 2009, Southwest Technology Center in Altus from 2009 to 2012, and as interim superintendent of Seminole Public Schools from 2015 - 2016. He was an dedicated career educator, committed both to hard work and that which was best for students. Bill married Denise (Robinson) Andrews on May 23, 1998, at the Abundant Love Fellowship in Maysville. He was a dedicated husband who found great joy in any task for Denise's benefit and delight in planning little surprises for her. In his role as "Papa Bill," he fiercely loved his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, supporting their many activities, and watching them play sports. He never lost his love for track and field and continued to serve as the starter for local and OSSAA track meets across the state. He enjoyed gardening and mowing the grass, was an avid pecan harvester, and spent some of his favorite moments among and caring for his cows and horses. He was a faithful member of the Abundant Love Fellowship and will be dearly missed by family, friends, and colleagues near and far. His survivors include his wife, Denise of the home. Mother, Mary Weldon of Madill, Oklahoma. Sons, Jeff Weldon and wife Laura of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Nick Andrews and wife Lacee of Washington, Oklahoma. Daughters: Traci Ballard and husband Matt of Claremore, Oklahoma; Holley McKay and husband Paul of Washington, Oklahoma; and Kari Haxel of Maysville, Oklahoma. Grandchildren: Jordan and Brooke Weldon; Nicholas, Cash, and Bella Andrews; Kizer, Keaton, and Matthijs Ballard; Zachary, Justin & Kaytin McKay; and Robinson, Klaire, Rylan Haxel, and Haylie Stroud-Crawford. Sister, Sandra Sweeney and husband Tim of Madill, Oklahoma. Sister-in-law, Marylyn Haynes of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Brothers-n-law, Dink Truett of Meeker, Oklahoma, Randy Robinson and wife Beverly of Wayne, Oklahoma, and P. D. Robinson and wife Tricia of Oklahoma. Numerous beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Billy Gene Weldon, Sr.; a brother, Steve Weldon; and sister, Kathy Truett. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Maysville Public Schools, 600 1st Street, Maysville, OK 73057. A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, January 13, 2017, at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville, OK with Jeff Weldon and Bro. Danny Gamble officiating. Tim Sweeney, Dink Truett, Paul McKay, Nick Andrews, Matt Ballard, Monte Thompson, Zak McKay, Justin McKay, Nicholas Andrews, David Klein, and Tom Pratt will serve as pallbearers.
