Violet Marie Tomlinson of Maysville was born on August 3, 1922 in Adamson, Oklahoma to Daniel Jefferson Ary and Cordelia (Sammons) Ary. She passed from this life on Thursday, June 2, 2016 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years. Marie was raised in Adamson, Oklahoma. She married Grady Theodore Tomlinson on August 9, 1939 in Wilburton, Oklahoma. They moved from Red Oak, Oklahoma to Maysville in 1960. Marie worked in the broom corn and cotton fields and as a nurses aide at Griffin Memorial Hospital for 23 years. She was also a full-time homemaker raising 7 children and loved spending time with all of her family. She loved cooking, quilting, and sightseeing and was always ready to travel. Marie enjoyed Gospel, Country & Western, and Bluegrass music. She liked being outdoors, working in her flower beds and gardening. She was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church in Purcell. Marie will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Her survivors include her sons, Lloyd Tomlinson and Don Tomlinson both of Maysville, Oklahoma and Larry Tomlinson and wife Lagenna of Lexington, Oklahoma. Daughters, Mary Tomlinson of Maysville, Oklahoma, Patti Hensley and husband Don of Sterling, Alaska, and Gracie Johnson and husband LeRoy of Elmore City, Oklahoma. Brothers, Johnny Ary and wife Gennean of Chandler, Oklahoma and Jerry Ary of Lexington, Oklahoma. Sisters, Daisy McElroy of Wister, Oklahoma, Cora Tubbs of Sacramento, California, Katherine Nowlin of Summerfield, Oklahoma, Georgia VanHorn of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and Linda Knickerbocker and husband Ron of Rogers, Arkansas. 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and host of other relatives. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Cordelia Ary, husband, Grady in 1977, a son, Dewey Tomlinson in 2003, daughter-in-law, Diana Tomlinson in 2011, and a brother, Danny Ary. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Winans Funeral Home, 405 Sixth Street, Maysville, OK. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the Maysville Cemetery with burial under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville.
