Bobby Gene Baker was born on April 25, 1931 at home in Chickasha, Oklahoma to Claude and Addie (Holmes) Baker and one older brother, Kenneth Baker. He later welcomed a total of 6 more siblings to his family, Carl, Ronald, Carolyn, Janette, Gary (Sonny) and Jerry (Joe). Sometime later his family moved to Oklahoma City where he resided until 1967, then moved to Lindsay and made his home there for over 50 years. In 1951 he joined the United States Army and served in the Korean War making the rank of Sergeant and received numerous medals including sharpshooter. After returning home from the war, he married Shirley Thoms and they brought three daughters, Janice, Donna, and Lori Baker into the world. He raised his family by owning and operating Baker’s Appliances until retiring in 2014 at the age of 83. He loved spending time with his daughters, grandchildren, and friends. Bobby was a giver and loved helping people. He liked fishing, going junkin’, auctions, and buying and selling cars. He was a member of VFW Post #2965 in Oklahoma City. Bobby is survived by three daughters: Janice Baker, Lori Baker and Dawn Damsgard, and Donna Baker all of Lindsay, OK. One granddaughter, Amy Yeager and Kenny Martin of Lindsay, OK and great grandchildren, Jacob Yeager, Kody Martin, Chayanne Damsgard, and Cordell Damsgard, Katelynn Henderson, and Kayla Martin and Richie Akins; and great-great granchildren, Aden Watson, Emma Watson, Raegan Akins, and Peyton Stroud. A sister, Janette Greene, brothers, Sonny and Joe Baker, and a host of nieces and nephews, and Eugene Bailey, whom he considered to be a son. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Addie; sister, Carolyn Herman and brothers, Kenneth, Ronald, and Carl Baker; sisters-in law, Vivian Baker, Rita Thoms, and Frankie Baker; brothers-in-law, Bobby Thoms and George Herman; nephews, Carl Ray Baker, Steve Baker, Scotty Baker, Craig and Kyle Towler, and Dustin Brown; nieces, Wynella Thoms, LaRita Thoms, Lisa Baker, Felicia Esquivias, and Deborah Herman Towler. Bobby went to be with his Lord on his 85th birthday, April 25, 2016 and will be greatly missed by all. His funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, April 28, 2016 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church, Lindsay with Rev. Bill Love and Rev. Clay Hicks officiating. Burial will be in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, OK under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
