Claudia Katherine (Sis) Work was born on August 18, 1920 in Marlow, Oklahoma to Claude and Gertrude Sandefur. She passed to her heavenly home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from the home in Lindsay at the age of 95 years. Katherine lived in the Doyle area where she married Roy Keck and had four children over the years. She was a hard worker who owned and worked in a restaurant among other jobs. She loved spending time with her family, fishing, riding horses, and working on the farm in Hughes where she lived with her second husband, Hix Shoemake, and four children. After her children were grown and her husband, Hix’s death, Katherine moved to Lindsay and on February 27, 1992 married Lige Work who had been a lifetime friend of Hix and Katherine. One of Katherine’s main goals in life was the education of her children and to see they got the opportunities that she didn’t have in her lifetime. She was proud of the fact that the three boys went to college and her daughter, Sandra found a good husband, Willie Ellithorp that made her a good living so she didn’t have to attend college. Katherine loved traveling and playing with her grandchildren. She loved pulling jokes on people especially April’s Fool jokes and for years never let a year go by without pulling one over on someone. Katherine was saved in a revival at the Calvary Baptist Church in Lindsay and at the time of her passing was a member of the Lindsay Church of God. Her survivors include her husband, Lige; her sons, Preston Keck and his wife, Linda of Lindsay; Leonard Keck and his wife, Karen of Oklahoma City; and Patton David Keck and his wife, Lorraine of Lindsay; daughter, Sandra Ellithorp of Lindsay; nephews, Jerry Sandefur and his wife, Pat of Elk Grove, California; and Travis Dewayne Sandefur and his wife, Blanche of Marlow; and five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Katherine was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack and Travis Sandefur and her loving granddaughter, Loria Campbell. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, April 22, 2016 at the Erin Springs Baptist Church, Lindsay with Rev. Clay Hicks officiating.
