Claudine Horace “Hoss” England was born on January 3, 1935 in Lindsay, Oklahoma to Claud and Frances (Henry) England. He went to be with the Lord on April 2, 2016 at the age of 81 years. He went to school in the Lindsay area and then spent the next 40 years working in the oil and gas industry in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas starting out as a young roustabout and working his way up to the position of tool pusher on an offshore drilling ship off the coast of Gabon, Africa for Storm Drilling and ended his career as a drilling consultant. He was a veteran and served two years in the Army and while stationed in Illinois, he met and married Shirley Widrlechner of Chicago. They have three children, Linda, Becky, and Richard. After his “oil patch” years he bought an orchard in Edinburg, Texas and raised grapefruits and oranges, then decided to move home to Lindsay to retire. Being the hard worker he always was, he never slowed down. He raised cattle and ostriches and always planted a huge vegetable garden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 23 Ball Smith in Lindsay. He enjoyed fishing, watching old westerns, attending old time singings at Bradley and being with family and friends. He had an extra special relationship with his siblings and talked to each of them every day and sometimes twice a day. He was especially proud of his kids and their families. Hoss, as he was called, had many roles in his life: son, brother, husband, father, and friend; however, his favorite role was that of “PaPaw”. He has nine grandchildren: Michelle Cantu, Nichole Campbell, Matt and Meagan Loughrey, Jessica, Jacob, Victoria, Katherine, and Connor England; and five great grandchildren: Brody , Bryce, Brayden, and Brenna Cantu and Kase Loughrey.
