Dorothy Lee Barnett

Dorothy Lee Barnett of Pauls Valley was born on August 31, 1929 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Paul D. Driskill and Ena (Eppler) Driskill. She passed from this life on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Pauls Valley at the age of 86 years. Dorothy lived all of her life in this area graduating from Pauls Valley High School in 1947. She married Bill Barnett on July 12, 1947 in Pauls Valley and together they raised two sons, Billy and Stephen. Dorothy made sure that her boys were always clean and dressed and she shared in all of their activities such as Cub Scouts, 4-H, and FFA. She was a homemaker and worked as a nurse’s aide at the Pauls Valley General Hospital. She enjoyed planting flowers, working in the garden, picking up pecans, taking the grandchildren “crawdadding”, weekly trips to the beauty shop, and going to the library to get new books to read. She loved listening to old time Gospel Music and singing and was always a good neighbor and kind to everyone she met. Dorothy enjoyed getting ready for the holidays by decorating her house and cooking big meals for her family. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her sons, Stephen Barnett and wife Paula of Broken Arrow, Okla. and Billy Barnett and his wife Debbie of Pauls Valley; a brother, David Driskill and wife Margaret of Okmulgee, Okla.; sister, Irene Clark of Pauls Valley; grandchildren, Shelly and DeeAnn Barnett, Aaron Smith, and Cassandra Clark; 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Ena Driskill; husband, Bill Barnett; grandson, Rick Barnett; sister, Juanita Baker; and brothers-in-law, Dale Clark and Harold Baker. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with Bro. Kevin Driskill officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
