Gerrit de Vries

Gerrit de Vries of Lindsay was born on July 23, 1936 in Balk, The Netherlands to Dave de Vries and Shirley (Vander Zee) de Vries. He passed from this life on Sunday, December 6 in Chickasha, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years. Gerrit graduated from Artesia High School. He married Carole Shive in 1973 in Chino, California. They have made their home in Lindsay for the last 42 years where they owned and operated a dairy farm. He loved his cattle and the dairy business. Gerrit was a people person and loved spending time with people. He enjoyed traveling and all animals especially his dogs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lindsay. Gerrit will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Carole de Vries of the home. A daughter, Amanda Bradford and husband Michael of Chickasha. Gerrit was preceded in death by his parents, Dave and Shirley de Vries; a brother, Dick de Vries; and a sister, Anna Terpstra . Graveside services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, Oklahoma with Pastor Larry Hatfield officiating.
