Doris Fay Myers-Norton

Doris Fay Myers Norton of Maysville was born on February 16, 1931 in Mineral Wells, Texas to George and Dovie (Jackson) Franklin. She passed from this life on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years. Doris was a lifetime resident of Maysville. She married Billy Myers on July 10, 1961 in Asher, Oklahoma. She worked for many years as a certified nurse’s aide at Griffin Memorial Hospital in Norman before retiring. Doris enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen dances in Maysville, Purcell, Lindsay, and Ada and the music at the Pauls Valley Opry. She loved her cats and going shopping. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Maysville. Doris will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her daughters: Rita Thornburg of Foster; Linda Carlisle and husband Bill of Chickasha; and Jeanie Simpson and husband David of Elmore City. 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Billy Myers. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Friday, October 30, 2015 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville with Rev. Billy Davenport officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
