Betty J. Powell

Betty Joe Powell of Maysville was born on September 22, 1936 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Fred Debord and Frankie Marie Simpson. She passed from this life on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 79 years. Betty lived in the Garvin County area all of her life. She married Elmer Powell. She had worked in various nursing homes. Betty was the mother to 9 children and a grandmother to many. She loved gardening, and watching professional wrestling and game shows on television. She was affiliated with the Pentecostal Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her sons: Elmer Powell of Oklahoma City; Jim Powell of Pauls Valley; Bob Powell of Byars; and Melvin Powell and wife Shonda of Maysville. Daughters: Connie Wall of Purcell; Cleta Alexander and husband Glen of Wellston; Jeannie Acuna husband Johnny of Sayre; Mary Knight of Pauls Valley; and Patricia Kelly of Purcell. Brother, David Simpson and wife Jeannie of Katy. A sister, Faye Sewell of Wilburton. and many grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband Elmer Powell. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in the Antioch Cemetery with Rev. Danny Gamble officiating with burial in the Antioch Cemetery under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
