Maneka “Nikki” Zaragoza-Jimenez Maneka “Nikki” Zaragoza-Jimenez passed away in Red Oak, Texas on August 6, 2015 from injuries suffered in a fall. Nikki was born on April 20, 1971 in El Paso, Texas to Sharlene Myers Zaragoza and Paul Zaragoza. She spent her early years in Hobbs and Lovington, New Mexico, graduating from Lovington High School and going on to New Mexico Junior College, where she studied to be a licensed vocational nurse. Nikki was baptized as a Christian in the Baptist faith. As a girl, she often traveled with her grandparents, Helen Marie (“Shot”) and Johnie Myers who she knew as “Poppop.” Nikki was married for a time to Halario Jimenez, and they gave birth to a son, Andrew Jiminez. After her marriage with Halario ended, Nikki and Andrew lived in the Lovington, New Mexico area, near the home of Nikki’s grandparents, “Shot” and “Poppop,” with whom they spent a lot of time, and Nikki developed a great loyalty to family, which continued with her throughout her lifetime. Some years after Johnie’s death, Nikki moved to Red Oak, Texas with her grandmother Helen Marie, her mother Sharlene and her four legged babies (her cats). Nikki continued to reside and in the Red Oak and Dallas areas until her untimely death. One of her proudest moments was seeing her son Andrew graduate from police academy and become a law enforcement officer. Another proud moment was the birth of her granddaughter Avanni, whom she loved dearly. Nikki had a kind and loving heart and will be greatly missed by family and friends. She is survived by her mother Sharlene Buzan, of Red Oak, Texas, father Paul Zaragoza of Odessa, Texas, son Andrew and fiancée Jennifer Parra of Lovington, New Mexico, granddaughter Avanna Jiminez and her mother Miranda Hinojoa of Hobbs, New Mexico, sister Dannielle Crawford of Dallas, Texas, great-aunt Gaye Rogers of Norman, Oklahoma and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews. Nikki was preceded in death by her beloved grandparents, Helen Marie and Johnie Myers. By her wish, Nikki’s body was cremated and her remains will be interred in the family plot in the Maysville, Oklahoma cemetery, under direction of Winans Funeral Home.
