Jehiel Warner Hewes III of Lindsay was born on October 8, 1937 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Jehiel Warner Hewes II and Mary Gaughn. He passed away on Monday, September 7, 2015 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years. Jehiel was a resident of Lindsay for 41 years moving here from Chickasha. He served his country in the Army and Air Force for a total of 30 years. He worked as a mechanic for Spraques, Western Wireline, Vic Cacy, and Gary Wofford was also employed for 20 years as an electrician for the City of Lindsay. Jehiel was an avid Dale Earnhart fan. He enjoyed motorcycles, working on cars, and had a passion for old cars, trucks, and planes. He loved spending time with his family and cooking. Jehiel was affiliated with the Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include his wife, Barbara Kay Hewes of the home in Lindsay. A son, Phillip John (P. J.) Hewes of Lindsay. Daughters: Mary Nunley of Tulsa and Joyce Goodman and Jason of Lindsay. Grandchildren: Heather Nunley, Hannah Goodman, and Brandon Fisher. Great grandchildren: Matthew Nunley, Caleb Turner, Aeden Harrison, and 3 more on the way. Jehiel was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Francis (McWhorter) Hewes. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 11, 2015 at Erin Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Breckenridge officiating.
