Harvey Leon Green was born on February 5, 1940 in Whitesboro, Oklahoma to Gordon Barnes Green and Gladys Ethel (Parnell) Green and passed from this life on Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at his home in Wanette at the age of 75 years. Leon grew up in Whitesboro, Oklahoma and as a young man he cut broomcorn in the Lindsay and Maysville area. He married Lamona “Mona” Neal on January 14, 1960 in Mena, Arkansas and to this union three children were born, Lisa, Randy, and Glen. Leon became a dozer operator working on road construction for I-35 and I-40 and clearing timber in Arkansas. Working as a land engineer, he went to Lagos, Nigeria from 1977 until 1980 before moving to Maysville in 1981 to work with his brothers in the oilfield as a heavy equipment operator. He was the happiest when he was on a dozer building things and especially ponds for his kids. On February 14, 2007 Leon married Virginia Ruth (Irwin) Ross. He adored his wife, Virginia, and they loved spending time together sitting outside, riding the golf cart, gardening, and enjoying nature. He liked to eat fried foods and cornbread and milk. Leon enjoyed watching Westerns and shows about Alaska on television. He was known to be a big joker and giving his opinion. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Leon attended the First Assembly of God Church. He is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home in Wanette. Children: Lisa Surrell and husband Warren of Maysville and Randy Green and wife Dawn of Purcell.. Step-children: David Ross of Newalla, James Ross of Wanette, Gina Ross of Sulphur, Teresa Griffin of Pauls Valley, and Audrey Durkee of Waynoka. Brothers: Vance Green and wife Judy of Purcell, Roger Green and wife Anita of Purcell, Ellis Green of Whitesboro, and Lindsay Green of Midwest City. Sisters: Ruth Cress of Whitesboro and Lena Jennings of Norman. 6 grandchildren: Monica, Kayla, Taneal, Chantel, Lexus, and Elijah and 12 step grandchildren. 11 great grandchildren and 23 step great grandchildren. And a host of other relatives and friends. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Mona, a son Glen, brother Barnes Green, and sisters Rena Vinson and Edna Pugh. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, August 22, 2015 at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville with Rev. Billy Davenport officiating.
