In Loving Memory George Washington Herriage, Jr. 89 years old was born March 5, 1926 in Tipton, Oklahoma to George W. Herriage Sr. and Georgie Huckaby. He passed away on Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Oklahoma City. At the age of 18 years, George was drafted in the United States Army and served one tour in Germany and France. He learned and used morse code and was an expert marksman in the 5th Infantry, 10th unit, (courage and fidelity) returning in 1945 as a World War II Veteran. George met and married the love of his life on May 24th, 1946 in Phoenix, AZ, where George started his own pool business. George and Ruby moved back to Oklahoma in 1981 and worked as a sales representative for PPI, then returned to what he enjoyed best as a pool construction foreman, where he retired at the age of 75 years. George was the 5th of 6 children. He was preceeded in death by 3 brothers and 1 sister. Maude Winchester is the only remaining sibling recently celebrating her 100th birthday. George was also preceded in death by 2 of his 5 children. Thomas Edward of Phoenix, AZ, Constance Rebecca of Mabank, TX, and 1 grandchild, Jacob Allen of McAlester, OK. George left behind his loving wife Ruby L. (Stits) Herriage of 69 years, one son, Randall Allen (wife-Susan Musil) of Minden, NV, daughters, Cynthia Ann (husband-Kenneth Vanvekoven) of Kiowa, OK and Janice Elaine Vanvekoven of Purcell, OK. 12 grandchildren, Andrea Kaye, Brian Lee, Jeremy Scott, John Charles, Jason Lee, Robert Joseph, Kristina Marie, Timothy Ryan, Katelynn Elizabeth, Aaron James, Alaina Rene, Bethany Hope and 10 great grandchildren. George was a devout soldier to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Deacon and dedicated member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church of Purcell, Ok. He was a cherished, loving and kind husband, father, grandfather and brother and will be very deeply missed. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church, Purcell, OK with Elder Mike Hughes officiating.
