Delbert Lee Otey On the evening of June 8, 2015, Delbert, age 76, passed away with his wife and daughters in attendance at his home near Maysville, Oklahoma. Delbert was born and lived near Cement, Oklahoma on November 19, 1938, to Leonard and Ruby Otey. He graduated from Cement High School in 1956. He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1956 to 1959. He married Janet Plaster in 1960 and settled in Corona, California, where they lived for over 50 years and raised two daughters. He worked for the County of Riverside for almost 30 years –retiring at age 55. Delbert has spent his retirement continuing to make trips to Oklahoma to visit family and friends. He also loved to spend time each summer in Crescent City, California, enjoying one of his favorite pastimes – fishing. Delbert and his wife returned to Maysville in September 2009. He loved to vegetable garden, raise cows, and work around the property. Delbert and Janet became members of the Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha, Oklahoma on January 3, 2010. Delbert is survived by: wife Janet and daughter Deborah Otey of Maysville; daughter and son-in-law Dana and Brian Stephenson of Corona, California; grandson Austin Stephenson of Benton City, Washington; granddaughters Ashley Lamb and Alyssa Stephenson of Corona, California; great-granddaughter Kiera Opal Lamb of Corona, California; sister Joyce Wyatt of Hydro; brother Dale Otey of Cement; and sisters-in-law Phyllis Otey of Chickasha and Freida Michael of Ardmore.. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Jay Otey, Vaughn Otey, and Larry Otey. Delbert would want his family and friends to know how very much he loved them. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm, Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, June 12, 2015 at Bible Baptist Church in Chickasha with Pastor Kim Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the Laverty Cemetery, Chickasha, Oklahoma under the direction of John W. Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, Oklahoma.
