James Vernon “J.V.” Neal, Jr. of Pauls Valley was born on January 30, 1934 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to James Vernon Neal, Sr. and Nola Mae (Williams) Neal. He passed from this life on April 21, 2015 in Pauls Valley at the age of 81 years. J. V. lived in Maysville, Lindsay, and Pauls Valley all of his life. He played football while attending school in Maysville, where he graduated from Maysville High School in 1952. J. V. served his country in the United States Marines based in San Diego, California. He worked at Burford Corporation in Maysville as a machinist and at Glow-lite, retiring as Vice-President. He was also an inventor, who owned several patents. J. V. collected old knives, old coins, and old cars. He created metal art from metal shavings he had collected. He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Pauls Valley. J. V. will be greatly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include his sister, Joyce Brownlee of Oklahoma City. And a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. J. V. was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arlin Neal and Bobby Neal; and sisters, LaNeta Neal and Mona Green. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, April 27, 2015 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville with Rev. Charles Dean officiating.
