Doyle Ray Underwood of Smithville, Oklahoma was born on June 11, 1943 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Luke Eugene Underwood and Gertrude (Patton) Underwood. He passed away on March 29, 2015 in the Veterans Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas at the age of 71 years. Doyle was a longtime resident of Maysville and Lindsay, graduating from Lindsay High School in 1962. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. After the military he worked as a cross country truck driver hauling explosives. Doyle lived in Texarkana, Tulsa, and several other places before settling in Smithville in 2003. He enjoyed raising horses, fishing, hunting, reading, and watching westerns on television. His survivors include his son, Doyle Ray Underwood, Jr. and wife Amanda of Maud, Texas. Daughters: Deanna Cowley of Lindsay and Dusty Baker of Texarkana, Texas. Brothers: his twin, Don Robert Underwood of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and David Patton Underwood and wife Inez of Rawlings, Wyoming. Sister, Sue Ann Booker and husband Eddy of Ardmore. Grandchildren: Cristen, Gabbie, Brent, Skylaar, and Autumn. Great grandson, Kristopher. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Dick Underwood and Dwaine Underwood; sisters, Lougene Hamilton and Pat Vaughn. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 18, 2015 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville.
