Phyllis Colleen Selman of Lindsay was born on May 2, 1931 in Fobb, Oklahoma to Sidney and Cleo Patre (Page) Smith. She passed away on Monday, September 29, 2014 in Lindsay at the age of 83 years. Colleen attended and graduated from McAlester High School. She met Gene Selman at Crabtree Drug in Pauls Valley and they were married six weeks later on June 28, 1950. For 64 years Colleen was known to Gene as “Sug”. She moved from Maysville to Lindsay in 1953. She worked at the Pauls Valley State Hospital as a employee/supervisor for 25 years. She was a member of the Oklahoma Public Employee Association and a community services organization, the Jaycee Janes. Colleen enjoyed reading, bird watching, and fishing at Texoma, Murray, Arbuckle, Fuqua, and Clear Creek lakes. She loved to travel and was the “Best Cook in the State”. She was affiliated with the Baptist Church . Colleen will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her survivors include her husband Gene of the home in Lindsay. Son, Rick Selman of Lindsay. A daughter, Clarice Getter of Tulsa. Sister, Lucille Williams. And a niece she loved like a sister, Norma Boulware. One granddaughter, Darci Henderson and four great grandchildren, Shelah and James Hines and Ivy and Jillian Henderson. And numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Cleo Smith; son-in-law Scott Getter; brothers, Choice Smith, Calvin Smith, and Sidney Smith; and sisters, Marie McDonald and Inez Hensley. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 3, 2014 at the Maysville Cemetery with Pastor Danny Daniels officiating.
