Norma Jean Hensley, 91, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma went to be with her Heavenly Father on Monday, May 26, 2014. She was born on June 22, 1922 in Chism, Oklahoma to John VanSchuyver and Gladys Elva (Shackleford) VanSchuyver. Norma Jean lived in the Maysville area most of her life and attended Hughes School. She married Herman Harem Hensley on August 16, 1940 in Maysville. Together they farmed in the Maysville and Whitebead area for 66 years. Norma Jean loved to cook, bake and decorate cakes and cookies, paint ceramics, help with the cemetery dinners, and had sewed over 50 quilt tops. She was active in the Home Extension Clubs and would enter her quilts, food, and plants in the fair and she was always winning ribbons with her entries. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church and was very involved in church work. Norma Jean touched many lives during her lifetime and will be greatly missed by all her family and many friends. Her survivors include her sons: DeWayne Hensley and wife Vicky of Moore; John Hensley and wife Laura of Purcell; and Eddie Hensley and wife Brenda of Waldo, Arkansas. 7 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Norma Jean was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gladys; husband, Harem in 2007; brothers, Arland Van Schuyver and Orian Van Schuyver; a sister, Orlene Simmons. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the First Assembly of God Church, Maysville with Rev. Billy Davenport and Johnny Tyler officiating.
