Barbara "Barbie" Jean Parks

Barbara “Barbie” Jean Parks of Maysville was born on May 1, 1953 in Downey, California to Thomas Justin and Bernadine Anastasia (Kramer) Volz. She passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2013 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 60 years. Barbie graduated from Lakewood High School and then obtained her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Development from Victorville Community College. On July 25, 1992 in Apple Valley, California she married William “Bill” G. Parks. While living in California she owned Desert Doodlers Preschool, where she enjoyed teaching the children. Barbie and Bill moved to Oklahoma in 1997 and she owned and operated Brown Sugar Bakery in Pauls Valley for several years. She was a very renowned baker. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, listening music, and going camping. Barbie will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Her survivors include her husband, Bill of the home. Daughter, Darcy Singleton and husband Chris of Maysville. Sons: Sam Cochran of Apple Valley, California and Jared Parks of Vernal, Utah. Grandchildren: Forrest, Stephen, and Chloe Singleton all of Maysville; and Seanna Parks of Oklahoma City. Brothers: Allen Volz of Oklahoma City; Russell Volz of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Daniel Volz of Vernal, Utah. Sisters: Laurie Bartman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Susan Fisher of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and Donna of Flagstaff, Arizona. Barbie was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Stephen Volz and Bob Volz; and a niece Ashley. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Story Baptist Church, north of Maysville with Bro. Tim Carr officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at our website www.winansfuneralhome.com
