Jimmie Dale “J.D.” Thornburg of Maysville was born on March 3, 1948 in Phoenix, Arizona to James Other Thornburg and Dorothy (Winningham) Thornburg. He passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013 in Lindsay, Oklahoma at the age of 65 years. J. D. attended school in Bradley. He married Reta Dutton on April 28, 1969. He worked in the oil field as a derrick hand for Well Tech in Lindsay and H & P Drilling, and also worked in the Sanitation Department for the City of Lindsay. J. D. and his family moved to Maysville to make their home in 1985. He loved people and he would help anyone in need and prided himself in being “everybody’s dad”. He enjoyed fishing in the river, junking, visiting at the coffee shops, and garage sales. J. D. was affiliated with the Baptist Church. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include his wife of 44 years, Reta of the home. A daughter, Sara Kelly and Chase Smith of Maysville. Grandchildren: Avery Kelly, Emma Kelly, Norah Kelly, and Nixon Smith. Brothers: Garland Thornburg of Bradley and Richard Thornburg of Marlow. Sisters: Sandra Nye of Elmore City and Corky Anderson of Lindsay. And several other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, October 3, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with Rev. Steve Spangler officiating.
