Birdie A. Wilton

Mrs. Birdie A. Wilton, age 85, died Thursday, May 16 2013 at Hillview Community Living Center in Dresden, TN. The family will have a visitation at Winans Funeral Home in Maysville, Ok, Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Mrs. Wilton was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Warren Wilton, her parents Marion McWhirter and Elnor Allen McWhirter. She is survived by her son Robert E. Wilton of Martin,TN, her daughter Linda Emmord of Corpus Christi, TX, Sandra Bauer of Hawaii, and Cherie Warren of Tulsa, Ok, 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Mrs Wilton was born in Maysville Oklahoma on November 25, 1927. She was a survivor of the Great Depression and the Oklahoma Dustbowl. Like so many during that time she moved to California with her family. It was there she met her husband. She later returned to Oklahoma to work for and eventually retire from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health at Central State Hospital in Norman. No matter where she traveled she was always a Sooner Fan for the University of Oklahoma. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Maysville, Oklahoma.
