Bobby Winans

Bobby Winans was born on October 25, 1918 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Ira E. and Callie (Morgan) Brown. She passed away on Monday evening, March 3, 2003 at her home in Maysville at the age of 84 years. Mrs. Winans was a graduate of Comanche High School and of Wesley Nursing School in Oklahoma City. In 1939 she married W. E. Winans of Oklahoma City and in 1941 the young couple moved to Pauls Valley opening a funeral home where the police station now stands. A short time later, they moved to Maysville and opened Winans Funeral Home. Mrs. Winans worked beside her husband as a licensed funeral director and Winans Funeral Home Ambulance Service. She also worked as a private nurse for many years, and later at St. Anthony Hospital and the Garvin County Public Health Department. Mrs. Winans retired in 1980 and has remained active in the community and her church. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville and the Esther Sunday School class. Her life is celebrated by her family and a great number of friends made throughout the years. Mrs. Winans traveled the world and never met a stranger. She found safety in her “little white house” and comfort in her title as Ma, Auntie, and Mom. She was preceded in death by her husband Tubby in 1971 and a brother Dr. Alton Brown in 1991. Her survivors include a son, Dr. Bill Winans of Portland, Oregon. Daughter, Bobby Lou Williams and her husband John of Maysville. Grandchildren: John Winans Williams and his wife Theresa of Allen, Texas; Brad Williams and his wife Jerri of Edmond; and Libby Thomas and her husband Tim of Maysville. Great Grandchildren: Connor, John Ross, and Molly Williams. Nieces: Lezlie Janes and Amy Williams; and nephew Tom Brown. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, March 6, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Maysville with Rev. Chuck Shilling officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
