George Wesley Mozley

George Wesley Mozley of Maysville passed away on Monday, May 6, 2013 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years. He was born on April 19, 1918 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Cleve Mozley and Edna (Grove) Mozley. George enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1938 and served until December 1, 1941 and with the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he was called back into service until June 1945. He was awarded 2 Bronze Stars and 1 Purple Heart. He also served his country in Sicily and North Africa under General Patton. George moved to Maysville in the late 1950's where he worked as an engineer at the Burford Corporation for 20 years. He retired from Hendershot Tools at the age of 65 years. George also worked as the church custodian from the age 75 to 85. He had excellent work ethics and was a “Man of Brilliance”. He was saved and baptized in 1965 and was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church. He married Ann Ivey Tillery on February 20, 1966 at First Baptist Church in Maysville after church services. George was a member of the Maysville American Legion and a past member of the Kiwanis Club of Maysville. He enjoyed reading, reading publications, water skiing, and hunting grizzly bears. He could be seen around town riding his scooter with his dog, Max, his faithful companion. George will be dearly missed by his family and friends. His survivors include his wife, Ann of the home in Maysville. Daughters: Ronda Lewis and husband, Randy of Oklahoma City; Anita Reynolds and her husband, Randy of Oklahoma City; and Kacy Burrows and her husband, Jared of Maysville. Grandchildren: Aubrey Iasiello and husband, Ralph of Oklahoma City; Sarah Ross and husband, Jarrod of Oklahoma City; and Kaitlyn Buchanan and husband, Brandon of Oklahoma City. 2 great grandchildren: Taryn Ross and Claire Iasiello. George was preceded in death by his parents, Cleve and Edna Mozley; brothers, Keith, Bill, Sonny, and Gordon Mozley; sisters, Dorothy Smith, Jo Kopen, and Jean Baldridge. Donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Activity Center, PO Box 745, Maysville, OK 73057. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, May 10, 2013 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville with Rev. Steve Spangler and Rev. J. V. Lobaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
