Kenneth Keith Phillips, 88, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in his Maysville home, surrounded by his family and friends. Kenny, as many called him, was born February 28, 1925 in Loco, Oklahoma to Jack Phillips and Annie Tarrant-Phillips. He graduated from Pernell High School and after returning from the war he attended East Central College in Ada. Kenneth served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. Married April 11, 1958 to Joyce Morton, the couple built a home together southwest of Maysville, where they raised their two children Phyllis and Michael. Kenneth and Joyce celebrated 54 years of marriage. He enjoyed spending time on the farm working with cattle, tending to bees, feeding the fish, and fishing; each of which he shared with his 6 grandchildren as they spent countless weekends and summer days on the farm with their Papa. Kenneth worked for over fifty years as a welder, beginning at Beaver Tool and then started his own welding business in 1962. He was a fifty year member of the American Legion and a 32nd degree Mason. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Phillips of the home, his son Michael of Maysville, his daughter Phyllis and husband David Stinnett of Kingfisher; six grandchildren, Alissa Stinnett of Kansas City, MO, Brandon Stinnett of Columbus, NE, Odella Keith and husband Brandon of Maysville, Cameron Phillips of Maysville, Keitha Phillips of Maysville, Kaleigh Stinnett of Oklahoma City and great granddaughter, Ava. He is also survived by his siblings Dorothy Lynn of Pauls Valley, Gerald Phillips of Pauls Valley, Bill Phillips of Wynnewood, Doyle Phillips of California, Larry Phillips of Oklahoma City, and Thell Phillips of Temple, Ok. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Jay and Loyce; and two sisters Norma and Shirley. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, March 29, 2013 at the Abundant Love Fellowship with Rev. Danny Gamble officiating.
