Mabel Ethel Layton of Lindsay, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord on June 25, 2012. She passed away at the Lindsay Manor Nursing Home in Lindsay at the age of 96 years. Mabel was born June 9, 1916. She married Jack B. Layton on January 21, 1936 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. Jack and Mabel had five children: Clifford D. Layton, Waymon L. Layton, Nona N. Gardner, Jackie D. Layton, and Sheilla C. Munger. Mabel was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Lindsay. Mabel always encouraged her children and friends to obey the gospel and become good Christians. She had a servant’s heart and loved to serve the Lord and family. When Mabel wasn’t reading her Bible or cooking for her family, she loved to crochet. Mabel is survived by her children: Dwain and Maxine Layton of Claremore, OK; Waymon and Arletha Layton of Lindsay; Jackie Layton of Lindsay; and Sheilla Munger of Anchorage, Alaska, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Jack B. Layton; one daughter, Nona N. Gardner; a son-in-law, Joe K. Gardner; one grandson, Sean Layton; and one granddaughter, Laura Gardner; four brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, June 28, 2012 at the Church of Christ on Highway 19 West in Lindsay with Pastor Popejoy officiating.
