Donald Ray Ivey was born April 10th, 1938 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Luther Paul and Etta Mae (Graves) Ivey. Don attended school at Story School through the 8th grade. He continued his education at Maysville High School. He was a member of the 1952 Maysville football State Championship team. He graduated from Maysville High School in 1956. He went on to further his education at the University of Oklahoma. In 1965, he started what would become his life-long career at Burford Corporation in Maysville, Oklahoma. This led him to visit many countries around the world, making many friends along the way. On July 19th, 1968 he married Dian Turner. This marriage was blessed with three children - one son and two daughters. Don served as President of the BEMA organization and later received their Lifetime Achievement Award. He was on the Maysville City Council, active in the Kiwanis Club where he planned the Maysville walking trail. He served on the Maysville Education Foundation. Don was also a founding member of the Maysville Alumni Association. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Maysville, joining by moving his letter from Story Baptist Church on April 12, 1957. He served on various committees, served as an usher, and taught Sunday School for many years. Of all the accomplishments he made throughout his life, the one of utmost importance was when he asked Jesus into his heart -- granting him entrance to Heaven on April 8th, 2012 at the age of 73 years. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Dian. Son, Donald Ray Ivey II and his wife Heather, and Daughters Cynthia Dawn Ivey Ring and her husband Glennis, and Sabrina Kaye Ivey. Also, four Grandchildren Caleb Daltyn Ivey, Zackry Luke Ring, Connor Blake Ivey, and Cayli Dawn Ring. He enjoyed attending the grandchildren's various activities. Also one sister, Pat Boyer and husband Don, brother Robert Ivey and wife Bonita. Brother-in-law Steven Turner and wife Debby, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Luther and Etta Mae Ivey, and his Father and Mother-in-law Paul and LaVerne Turner. A visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Winans Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, OK with Rev. Steve Spangler and Rev. Jim Paslay officiating.
