Edna Irene Horton of Maysville passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at her home in Maysville at the age of 94 years. She was born March 8, 1917 in Asher, OK to Arthur and Susie (Scott) Sillyman. Edna attended and graduated from Asher High School. She married John Henry Horton on June 30, 1940 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. They moved to Maysville in 1949 where John worked for Sinclair Oil Company and Edna was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed bird watching, feeding birds, gardening, flowers, and oil painting. Edna collected birds and oil lamps. Jelly making was one of her specialities and she was also an excellent baker. Edna liked working crossword puzzles and watching Jeopardy. She also liked to make stuffed toys and doing crafts. Edna had a great interest in all aspects of life. She was loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family. Survivors include her sons: Jerry Horton of Hutchinson, Kansas and John W. Horton and wife, Sharon of Mangum, OK. Daughters, Alecia Staley of Maysville and Kathy Davis and husband, Earnest of Oklahoma City. 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren and 1great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; son-in-law, W. J. Staley; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Horton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, December 9, 2011 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville with Rev. Steve Spangler officiating.
