Lester Carter, born February 19, 1934 at Stringtown, Oklahoma, went to be with his Lord on May 20th, 2011 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by his wife, children, grandchildren, and many loved ones. Lester worked in the oilfields most of his life. He married Helena Ivy on June 18, 1953 at Chickasha, Oklahoma. He owned and operated a dozer business in Lindsay for 5 years, then with his wife and family he moved to Vici, Oklahoma, where he owned and operated C&L Swabbing Service for 16 years. After selling his business, he and his wife, Helena moved back to Lindsay to be closer to family and take care of his cows on his farm. Lester loved to work in his garden and fish. He could grow vegetables on a rocky hill, he loved to share his garden with everyone, never meeting a stranger. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Daddy, we miss you and love you. Mom and your children. Lester was saved and baptized in the Pentecostal Church in California as a young man and was a 32nd degree Mason. Survivors: His wife Helena Ivy Carter of the home Daughters: Sheila Bozarth of Woodward, Oklahoma, Marcia and Dennis Pratt of Ardmore, Oklahoma, Lesley and Don McNutt of Bradley, Oklahoma, and Regina Word of The Woodlands, Texas 1 Son: Hank Carter of Lindsay, Oklahoma, 1 Brother: Clarence Carter of Woodward, and 3 sisters: Imogene Honeycutt of Edmond, Clara Martin of Foster and Hester Baggs of Longdale, Oklahoma. 9 grandchildren: Selina Morris, Angie Nevills, Amanda Maybry, Letha Ogden, Joe Nevills, Heath Work, Crystal Heck, Cole Carter, and Trey Word. 12 great grandchildren and by 1 great-great grandchild And by a great number of other relatives and friends made throughout the years. Lester is preceded in death by his parents: Quiller and Annie Carter; 1 grandson, Curtis Work and brothers: Carl, Delbert, Gilbert, J.D., and Willie. *******Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 1:00 pm at the Erin Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Clay Hicks and Rev. Bryce Schaffer officiating with burial in the Green Hill Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville.
