Odie O. McManus

Odie O. McManus Born: May 25, 1923 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Jerry and May Bell Fowler McManus Died: April 30, 2011 at the Pauls Valley Health Care Center. Age: 87 Odie McManus has lived in the area for a number of years. He graduated from Elmore City Highschool about 1941. Odie joined the Army during WW II, was wounded in Germany, and received the Purple Heart. After the service, he married Wilma Turner on February 2,1950 at Gainesville, Texas. Odie was a oilfield machinist and moved around the oilfields doing all kinds of work. He worked for Bob Poteet for several years. They enjoyed traveling and Odie enjoyed fishing and visiting with people. He attended the Church of Christ in Pauls Valley. Survivors: Brother, Bill McManus and his wife Shirley of Pauls Valley. A sister, Zelma Stephens and husband Donald Lee of Elmore City, And by a sister-in-law, Dean McManus of Ada. He is also survived by a great number of nieces and nephews and friends made throughout the years. Odie is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma; 2 brothers and 5 sisters. ******Grave side services will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at 2:00 pm at the Maysville Cemetery with Jess Wilburn officiating with John Williams of Winans Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
