Alfred Jenkins “Curly” Harmon, 87 of Maysville departed this life on Friday, February 4, 2011 at his home. He was born May 12, 1923 to Walter and Dollie (Womack) Harmon in Prairie View, Oklahoma. Curly grew up in Purdy, Oklahoma and received his schooling there. In 1944 he went to work at Tinker Air Force Base as an aircraft inspector. On December 26, 1944 he was joined in holy matrimony to Evelyn Sullivan. The young newlyweds settled in Oklahoma City and Evelyn went to work at Tinker, too. Two children were added to the family while living in Oklahoma City, Charles Ray and Brenda Sue. In 1966 the Harmons moved to Maysville. Curly retired from Tinker in June of 1970 and went to work farming and raising cattle east of Maysville atop Schrivner Hill where the family home is located. Curly’s favorite pastime was taking his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren fishing. Curly served in the Air Force Reserve 4 years, was a Mason for 50 years and a member of the American Legion for 21 years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Evelyn of the home. Daughter, Brenda Clark and her husband, Jerry of Tuttle. Granddaughters: Amber Renee Harmon of Maysville and Jennifer Nicole Clark of Norman. Great grandchildren: Alexis Renee Harmon, Corban Ray Martin, and Gavin Don Martin. Brother, Junior Harmon of Lindsay. Sisters: Billie Weathers of Anadarko and Julia Dawn Rhinehart of Oklahoma City. Curly is preceded in death by his son, Charles Ray Harmon; his parents, Walter and Dollie Harmon; brothers, Bill, Andrew, Ted, Buddy, Homer T, and Lloyd Ray Harmon; sisters, May Parker, Murtle Hayes, Marie Wall, and Betty Jane Heller. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 7, 2011 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville with Rev. Bill Love officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pauls Valley under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
