Marjorie Joan Murray

Marjorie Joan Murray was born February 2, 1927 at Criner, Oklahoma to W. T. “Dink” and Ruby Hardage Jackson. She died Sunday, July 5, 2009 at Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 82. Joan grew up in the Story, Criner, and Dibble areas, graduating from Dibble High School in 1944. After graduating she worked at Douglas Aircraft. Joan married Melvin Murray on December 28, 1948 in Purcell, OK. They made their home in Rosedale before moving to Maysville. She was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing, canning, reading, babysitting, and playing the piano. Joan and her sisters enjoyed singing together being known as the “Jackson Girls Quartet”. She was a member of the Story Baptist Church. Joan will be dearly missed by her husband, children, grandchildren, and many other relatives. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Melvin of the home. Sons: Collin Murray and his wife, Linda of Maysville, Ryan Murray and his wife, Analisa of Maysville, Leland Murray and his wife, Sandy of Elk City, OK. Daughter, Rhonda Brown and her husband, Larry of Maysville. 8 Grandchildren, 10 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild. Sisters: Shirley Clagg and her husband, David of Maysville, Donna Ladd and her husband, Elwood of Blanchard, and Patsy Urban of Sanger, Texas. And many other relatives and friends made through out the years. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Tommie Hobson. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Story Baptist Church. Bro. Tim Carr and Tyson Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
