Joan “Jodie” Baker, 78 of Wayne passed away Saturday, December 11, 2010 at Sunset Estates in Purcell, Oklahoma after an extended illness. She was born November 29, 1932 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Clarence V. and Esther Pauline (Hedrick) Pumphrey. Jodie attended Maysville School graduating in 1951. She married Karl “Koke” Baker on May 12, 1951 in the Story community. Jodie was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife who helped her husband with their cattle and farming. She sang and played the bass guitar at churches and Senior Citizens’ dances. Jodie was a talented tole painter, crafter, seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting and photography. She was a member of the Re-organized Church of Latter Day Saints. Jodie enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Karl “Koke” Baker of the home in Wayne. Her sons, Raymond “Corky” Baker and his wife, Pam of Wetumka; and Bob Baker and his wife, Chris of Tishomingo. Brother, Paul Pumphrey of Elmore City. Sister, Joyce Murphy of Shreveport, Louisiana. Grandchildren: Jason, Andrea, DeJay, Dusty, Brandon, Shanea, Taylor, and Rilee. Great grandchildren: Weston, EmmaLee, Aaron, Austin, Kiara, and Makayla. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, December 13, 2010 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel in Maysville with Rev. Chopper McCartney officiating.
