Delbert Lawton Richards was born June 3, 1927 at Maud, Oklahoma to Noel Elgin and Annie Ryker Richards. He died Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Lindsay Manor Nursing Home at the age of 82 years. Delbert attended school and graduated from Maud High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII serving in Hawaii. On April 28, 1945 Delbert married Lula Mae Bryson. He worked for Warren Petroleum/Chevron as a field supervisor for 38 years which took he and his family from Maud to Holiday, Texas, and then Lindsay in 1949. Delbert loved music, playing the guitar and singing, turkey hunting, fishing, and wolf hunting. He is a member of the Erin Springs Church of God where he enjoyed being involved with the music. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lula Mae Richards of Lindsay Son, Tye Richards and his wife, Janice of Lindsay Daughters: Carolyn Williams and her husband, Ron of Lindsay; and Rita Blackwell and her husband, Larry of Lexington Brother, Lee Richards of Maud Sisters: Ozeeta Dobson of Seminole and Treva Phipps of Madill 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren And by many other relatives and friends of the family Delbert was preceded in death by: his parents; his son, Dee Richards; his daughter, Pam Richards Cooper; and by a brother, T.C.“Chuck” Richards. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Erin Springs Church of God. Ralph Conkling and Bryan Archer will officiate with burial in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
