Jess Willard Elkins, 87, of Lindsay died Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore. He was born June 25, 1923 at Lindsay, Oklahoma to Henry Eli and Ada Luclema (Dennis) Elkins. Jess was a lifetime resident of Lindsay. He completed his last semester at Lindsay High School and graduated after serving his country as a combat medic in the U. S. Army during WWII. Jess married Dorothy M. Crow on May 18 1946 and they were married for 52 years before she passed away in June 1998. He was a self employed long distance trucker driving for H. J. Jeffries Truck Lines. Jess held the honor of being accident free for 3 million miles. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. His survivors include his son, Charles Robert Elkins of Tulsa. A daughter, Jana Lynn Roper and her husband, James of Arkansas. Brothers: Leo Elkins of Lindsay and Charles Elkins of Lawton. Grandchildren: Jason and Brandy. 2 great grandchildren Jess was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy;a randson, Jesse; brother, S. E. Elkins; and a sister, Edna Jones. Grave side services will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, September 2, 2010 at the Erin Springs Cemetery with Rev. Bill Love officiating.
