Naomi “Inez” Melton Born: September 7, 1916 at Zion, Arkansas to Walter Newton and Ida Maude Richardson Gray. Died: March 25, 2010 at the Sunset Nursing Home in Purcell Age: 93 Mrs. Melton was well known in this area. She moved here with her family at the age of 3 from Arkansas. She graduated from Wayne High School in 1936, and graduated from Oklahoma University at the age of 65. On November 30, 1939, she married Chester Melton of the Wayne-Maysville area. Mr. Melton preceded in death in 1983. Mrs. Melton was a chicken rancher, sold eggs, and a health care provider working in nursing homes and private homes doing patient care. She was a great cook and a substitute teacher using her OU degree to teach English and Literature. Mrs. Melton was a long time member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors: 3 Daughters: Ramona Masterson and husband Nathan of Arkansas City ,Kansas Bardie Duvall and husband Ron of Seminole and Pam Walker and Greg of Ada. Oklahoma A daughter-in-law Sherri Melton of Wayne 1 Son: Duane Melton and wife Gina of Valdosta, Georgia. 15 Grandchildren 22 Great-Grandchildren and 6 great-great- grandchildren and a lifetime of friends made throughout the years. Mrs. Melton is preceded in death by her husband Chester and a son Lanny. ******Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 1st, 2010 at 2:00 pm at the Unity Baptist Church with Rev.Randy Rhea and Rev.
