Richard “Dickie” Alvin Sullivan, 71, of Maysville passed away Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born July 6, 1939 at Elmore City, Oklahoma to Floyd John Sullivan and Minnie Bell (Richardson) Nolatubbe. Richard grew up in Maysville, graduating from Maysville in 1957. While growing up he worked at the local barber shop shining shoes for the customers. Richard married Carmolita Jones on March 2, 1958 at the First Baptist Church in Maysville. They made their home in Oklahoma City where Richard attended Barber College. Richard worked as a barber for 20 years in Moore, Oklahoma, before becoming self employed as a master blade sharpener. He and his wife traveled around Oklahoma sharpening clipper blades. They moved back to Maysville 13 years ago. Richard was a member of the Barber’s Union. He loved traveling and riding 4-wheelers. Richard enjoyed being with his family. He was always in a good mood and everybody loved him including his son-in-laws. Richard was the greatest husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He attended the First Baptist Church and Assembly of God Church in Maysville. Richard will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. His survivors include his wife, Carmolita “Babe” Sullivan of the home. Daughters: Sylina Meeks and her husband, Brent of Norman: Jaylyn Hovis and her husband, Tony of Purcell; and Kyla Sullivan of Long Beach, California. Sisters: Mildred Nobles of Maysville and Neacha Rankin and her husband, Bill of Maysville. Grandchildren: Dustin Meeks and Stephanie Penrod; Derek Meeks and Heather Grubb; Dillon and Tina Meeks; Jordyn Hovis and Trenton Hovis. Great grandchildren: Lanie Meeks, Taylor Meeks, Hunter Meeks, Caitlyn Meeks, Hayden Meeks, Rhyder Meeks, and Greysen Hovis. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Minnie Nolatubbe. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Assembly of God Church of Maysville with Rev. Billy Davenport and Rev. Bo Gibbs officiating.
