Edna H. Levy of OKC, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the age 104. Born in 1906 near Cherokee, OK, to Martha Jane and Joel Hamilton, she was orphaned and raised in the Odd Fellows Home, at Carmen, OK. She came to OKC as an 18-year-old, and worked as the secretary of Bob Empie, President of the Stockyards Bank. Mrs. Levy’s late husband, Harry C. Levy, was a successful real estate developer and homebuilder. Mr. Levy always attributed his success to his wife, saying that he couldn’t have done it without her help in the early days of the business. Close friends and family knew Mrs. Levy to be an extremely caring, loving and generous person, and everyone with whom she came in contact described her as ‘the sweetest lady.’ She was an avid gardner, and shared the roses from her garden with friends and neighbors. She also loved sharing her “famous pumpkin bread,”as well as her hot/sweet/garlicky pickles. With the assurity that ‘nothing is impossible,’ she urged her daughters and grandchildren to reach for their dreams, while using their intelligence, imagination and hard work to achieve their goals. Mrs. Levy is survived by her daughters, Linda Levy Gale, and Judy Levy Reynolds. Grandchildren: Steven Gale, Stephanie Gale Shaul, Kristi Reynolds Koelsch, Julia Reynolds, Blake Reynolds, and Dustin Reynolds. Great grandchildren include Kyle Cooper, Amanda St. John, Jessica Reynolds Sterling, Philip St. John, Morgan Deupree, Seth Reynolds, Kolton Deupree, Gabrielle Gale Remer, Adam Remer, and Emma Remer. †She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Levy, and great grandson Jarred Wayne Seitz, sisters Nelda Straughan, Myrtle Miller, Mabel Knox, and brothers Clarence Hamilton, Joel Cilbert Hamilton and Velmont Hamilton. †† Viewing will be Sun., August 22, from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and the funeral services at 1:30 pm, Mon., August 23, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8801 NW Expressway,Oklahoma City with burial under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
