Vanessa Leigh Chandler, 17, of Lindsay passed from this life on Monday afternoon, January 11, 2010 due to a traffic accident north of Maysville. She was born to Robert Lee and Tammy Renee (Stroud) Chandler on October 4, 1992 at Chickasha, Oklahoma. Vanessa grew up in the Lindsay area and attended Lindsay Schools where she was very active in school activities and a member of several clubs and organizations. She had been a 6th grade cheerleader, a member of the Girl Scouts, played basketball in the 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, played softball, ran Cross Country Track, and was a drummer for the percussion section in the Lindsay High School Band. Vanessa was a member of the Art Club, Spanish Club, Lindsay Round Up Club, Pauls Valley Round Up Club, and NBHA District 4. She loved her horses and participating in the barrel racing circuits, where she had won 1st place 4D Barrel Race “Buckle Series” and 3rd place on F & F Rodeo Circuit. After all these activities, Vanessa still found time to work her job at Jake’s Short Stop and hang out with her friends, especially her fiancé, Brandon McCaskill. She was a cherished young lady and loved by many family members and friends. Vanessa will be so greatly missed. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay. Vanessa’s survivors include her parents, Robert and Tammy Chandler of Lindsay. Sisters: Amanda Ramsey and her husband, Justin of Lindsay; and Tanya Chandler of Lindsay. Fiancé, Brandon McCaskill. Nephew, Dusty Ramsey. Grandparents: Leon Chandler of Lindsay and Virginia and B.J. Cruzan of Tuttle. Aunts and uncles: Randy and Shelly Chandler; Ronnie and Betty Chandler; Karen and Mark Drees; Vickie and David Nunley; and Jason Stroud. And by many, many great aunts, great uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Doug and Marilyn Stroud; and Mildred and Buck Alcorn. And an uncle, Dustin Stroud. Funeral Services will be held 2:30 pm, Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Lindsay High School Gymnasium with Rev. Randy Allen officiating.
