Ida Lou Prather was born August 17, 1937 at Hill Center, Texas to Olin and Dozie Abernathy Roberts. She passed from this life, Tuesday night, December 22, 2009 in the Norman Regional Hospital at the age of 72 years. Ida Lou was a resident of Maysville, attending school here and graduating from Maysville High School in 1956. She married Ray D. Prather on January 2, 1958 at First Baptist Church in Maysville. Ray was in the U. S. Army and they lived in several places before coming back to Maysville to settle down. Ida Lou worked as an activities director at the Purcell Nursing Home and McCaskill’s Nursing Home in Maysville. She enjoyed doing crafts, collecting cookbooks, outside gardening, holiday cooking, and her grandchildren. Ida Lou was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church on September 4, 1949. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Ray Prather of the home in Maysville. A son, Bobby Prather of Norman. Daughters: Lavonda Prather and Deana Prather both of Maysville. Brothers: Will Roberts and his wife, Norma of Pauls Valley; Joe Roberts and his wife, Janet of Yukon. Sister, Mary Scott and her husband, Carl of Maysville. 3 Grandchildren: Matthew Don Smith, Sara Bennett, and Joshua Prather. 3 Great Grandchildren: Mason Bennett, Madison Bennett, and Piper Prather. Ida Lou was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, December 26, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Maysville. Rev. Charles Henthorn and Rev. Tim Carr will officiate with burial in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
