Larry Raymond Heath Born: February 21, 1947 in Pasadena, California to Lawrence and Esther Mae Croley Heath. Died: November 26, 2009 at the Oklahoma City Veterans Center. Age: 62 Growing up in California, Larry received his education in the local schools, graduated and obtained 1 year of college at West Covina, California. At age 17 , he joined the United States Navy, in 1964 during the Vietnam War and served his country for 5 years, 4 months and 23 days. He served on the USS Grand Canyon, and The USS Delta. He and Shirley Ann Vaught met when she was 7 years old and were married years later on June 13, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The family has live on the East and West Coast due to their association with the Navy. Larry surrendered to the Lord’s calling, served in Flagstaff, Arizona, and in 1972 the family moved from Texas to Oklahoma and served Assembly of God Churches in Maysville, Yanush, Kingston, Boswell, Waynoka, Alex, Monroe, Wilburton, and most recently Pearl Assembly of God at Doyle, Oklahoma, where he retired 3 years ago due to failing health. Larry was a licensed minister of the Assembly of God and served on various committees on the District level. He also loved to do small engine repair and at one time worked in McAlester on protective tiles for one of the space shuttles. He was a lifetime Member of the Disabled Veterans. During his life with Shirley, they were blessed with an untiring gift of love for foster children and have provided for and loved a great many children, some with greater needs because of disabilities. Survivors: his wife of 44 years, Shirley of the home. His mother Esther Mae Heath of McLoud, Oklahoma 5 Sons: Larry Christopher Heath and wife Kimberly of Poteau, Oklahoma----Robert Lawrence James Heath of Waurika, Oklahoma----John Cecil “Heath” McKinney II and wife Nicole of San Diego, California----Rev. Jesse Lawrence Heath and wife Roberta of Enid----and Jonathan Jason Heath of Doyle, Oklahoma. 3 Daughters: Tina Ann Smith and husband Jeff of Broken Arrow ----Traci Summer Lynn Heath of Enid ---- Brandi Renee Nicole Heath of Doyle, Oklahoma. 1 Brother: James Heath and wife Lorraine of McLoud. and 1 Sister Judy Ann Greenaway also of McLoud, Oklahoma. 10 Grandchildren and 1 Great-Grandchild, and a great many nieces and nephews and a great number of foster children that passed through the home receiving the love, care and safety they needed. Larry is preceded in death by his father Lawrence Raymond Heath , a brother Donald Heath, a sister Dorothy Greenaway, a granddaughter Andrea Heath and a special child Nicole Cline. ***** Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm., Tuesday, December 1st, 2009, at the Maysville Assembly of God with Rev. Garry Guthrie, Rev. Jimmy Duck, Rev. Rocky Keck and Rev. Roger Maddox officiating. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville.
