Robert James Cheek, Jr. was born October 24, 1922 at Maysville, Oklahoma to Robert James Cheek, Sr. and Hattie Cowans Cheek. He died Monday, April 6, 2009 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK at the age of 86 years. Robert was a lifetime resident of Maysville. On September 13, 1941 he married Mildred Raper at Antioch, OK. Robert had earned a living farming and working as a plumber, and had also been employed with Garvin County and the City of Maysville. He was well known for selling watermelons under the shade trees along Highway 74. Robert was affiliated with the Baptist church. Survivors include: 2 sons: Teddy Cheek of Lindsay and Eddie Cheek of Chickasha. 1 Daughter, Alice Ary, of Red Oak, OK. 1 Sister, Marie Ridner of Odessa, TX. 12 Grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mildred in 1998; a son, Kenneth Cheek. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, April 10, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, Maysville, Oklahoma. Rev. Billy Davenport will officiate with burial in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
