Billy Jack “Sonny” Franklin of Lindsay, Oklahoma departed this life on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at Norman Regional Hospital, Norman, Oklahoma at 80 years of age. He was born May 29, 1930 in Pikes Peak Community in Grady County, Oklahoma to Harrison B. Franklin and Cessel Metree (Davis) Franklin. Billy Jack married Doy Webb on July 3, 1950 in Oklahoma City. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Lindsay. He traveled working pipeline construction about 20 years and for 17 years he helped build plants in Enid. Billy Jack and Doy moved back to Lindsay in 1987 to enjoy the easy life and grandchildren. After retiring his favorite things to do were visiting his friends at the coffee shop, the senior center lunch, and the great grand children were a joy to him. Billy Jack enjoyed watching football. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Doy of the home. 3 sons: Billy Wayne Franklin and his wife, Joy of Lindsay; Randy Loyd Franklin and his wife, Connie of Yukon; Carson Paul Franklin and his wife, Annette of Waukomis. Grandchildren: Derek Franklin and his wife, Rachel; Melissa Sigman; Amanda Williams and her husband Zac; Rachel Rast and her husband, Derek; Devin Decker; McKenzie Franklin; Niki Whitener and her husband, Josh. Great Grandchildren: Kaden Kohl Franklin, Kody Wayne Franklin, Dylan Joy Sigman, Brayden Joshua Whitener. Sister-in-law, Willie Franklin. Brother-in-law, Charlie Crouch. And by many nieces and nephews. Those preceding him in death were his parents, Harrison and Cessel Franklin; grandsons, Zachery Franklin and Cory Wayne McElrath, 3 brothers, Lloyd Franklin and his wife, Que; Leonard Franklin; J.J. “Mutt”Franklin and his wife, Sylvia; 2 sisters, Mildred Wellborn Crouch; Dorothy Langford and her husband, Cecil. Grave side services will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Erin Springs Cemetery with Rev. Bill Love officiating. Burial will be under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.winansfuneralhome.com
