Amaree AEolus Holloway Harris was born on March 6, 1918 to Thomas and Florence Holloway in Maysville, Oklahoma. Amaree know as Jackie, Mama Jaki, and Meme to most, died on March 19, 2009 at 10:22 am at the age of 91 years in her home at the ranch in Maysville where she and her husband, Sam, resided for the last three years. She attended Maysville High School where she met Samuel Walter Harris and married on July 28, 1940. Jaki and Sam spent the last 40 years living in Oklahoma City before moving to their ranch in Maysville. Jaki was a caring, kind, and gentle wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Jaki was active in all of her children’s Sunday school and school events and was frequently requested to chaperone at high school events by other students even after her children graduated. She was a member of the Music Club, Church Choir, and played the piano and organ for church services. She continued playing the piano and singing until two months prior to her death. Being family oriented there was always a house full of kids at their home in Wynnewood. Jaki loved the wild life around the ranch and spent her days enjoying the animals, birds, wild flowers, and trees. For the last thirteen years of her life Jaki had Alzheimers and was cared for by her loving husband of 68 years. Sam never left her side until his death. Jaki is survived by a brother, Teddy Dean Holloway of Maysville, their three children, Sam G. Harris of Cushing, Oklahoma, Tom D. Harris of Maysville, and Ginger Harris Hickey of Maysville. Jaki also had eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sam and a sister, Mildered Margaret “Sissy” Patchell. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3555 NW 58th Street, Suite 220, Oklahoma City, OK 73112. The family’s address is 11496 Eastern Avenue, Maysville, OK 73057. Funeral Services were held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 22, 2009 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville. Rev. Bob Langston will officiate with burial in the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
