CAGLE, KENNETH MAURICE, born July 22, 1921, at Crossroads, Oklahoma to Lester and Maude Murdock Cagle, passed from this life Tuesday morning, August 18, 2009 at his home in Oklahoma City. Ken grew up in Garvin County, attending school at Antioch and graduated from Elmore City High School in 1937. He attended East Central University. At the inception of WWII he joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and worked in the Northwest. Upon completion of his responsibilities he then joined the Army Air Corp and was a veteran of WWII. In 1945 Ken married Doris Husum, in Brookings, South Dakota. They later settled in Lake Preston, South Dakota, where he owned and operated Cagle Chevrolet-Oldsmobile. Eventually they moved to Norman, Oklahoma. As owner operator of Cagle Buick for many years, he retired from the automobile industry. Always interested in a new challenge, Ken obtained his real estate license. He sold commercial and residential property for many years. During that time he served two years on the City Council of Hall Park during the 1980’s and early 1990’s. He then served two terms as Mayor of Hall Park and then went on to become the first Police Commissioner of Hall Park. He enjoyed the arts, volunteered with many organizations and was a former pilot. After 54 years of marriage, Doris passed away in 1999. He was fortunate to find love again with Mary Jon (Cates) Holder from Lindsay, Oklahoma. They were married April 14, 2001 at University Lutheran Church, Norman, Oklahoma. Survivors include his wife, Mary, his best friend and brother, Dwight (Darlene) Cagle, his son John ( Verna) Cagle, his daughter Ann Tandy-Sallee and husband David Sallee. Niece Angela Harkey, nephews Steven Cagle and Curtis Cagle and their families. By his marriage to Mary he was fortunate to gain an additional son, Ben (Teresa) Holder and daughters Lea Ann Holder and Cindy Holder. Between Ken and Mary’s family he had twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, August 24, 11:00 a.m. at University Lutheran Church, 914 Elm Avenue, Norman, Oklahoma.
