Geary Faye Sanford

Geary Faye “Mama Faye” Archer Sanford entered this life on July 26, 1922, and she went to be with her Lord on September 20, 2009 in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 87. Faye was born to Benjamin Harrison Archer and Adele Hart Archer in Lindsay, Oklahoma near Rocky Point. She married Paul Ray Sanford on June 21, 1941 in Lindsay, Oklahoma. Faye graduated Lindsay High School in 1941. She and Paul made their home in Lindsay for many years. Faye worked at the Lindsay News and Pool Memorial Hospital. Faye and Paul moved to Oklahoma City in 1967, where she became a Licensed Realtor and a Shaklee Representative. Faye was a Dale Carnegie Course instructor for a number of years. She served on the State Board of Realtors and served as President of the Realty Land Institute. Faye was active in the Pioneer program for the State Fair of Oklahoma and the Oklahoma City Chamber of Commerce. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. Faye was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Lindsay and most recently a member of the First Baptist Church of Maysville, Oklahoma. She was active in her Sunday School Class and loved to visit with her friends at church and the Senior Citizen’s Center in Purcell. She enjoyed playing dominoes, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had an especially close relationship with her siblings. Even though they did not live close, they kept in touch on a regular basis. Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin Harrison Archer and Adele Hart Archer; her loving husband of 53 years, Paul Sanford, one great granddaughter, Brittanee Lee-Ann Baade and one brother-in-law Edell White. Faye is survived by one daughter, Patricia Ann Wagstaff and husband Coy of Maysville, Oklahoma; and one son, Paul Ray “Buddy" Sanford Jr. and wife Joyce of Edmond, Oklahoma. Eight grandchildren, Mickey Wagstaff and wife Janet of Purcell, Oklahoma; Koye Ann Baade and husband Scott of Lindsay; Misti Southern and husband Joe of Foster, Oklahoma; Michelle White and husband Charlie of Lindsay, Oklahoma; Lisa Andrews and husband Kevin of Purcell; Michael Sanford and wife Megan of Edmond, Oklahoma; Ryan Sanford and wife, Lori of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Kevynn Sanford of Edmond, Oklahoma. Two sisters; Maye White of California; Faye’s twin sister Raye Archer of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and one brother, Jack Archer and wife Jackie of Tennessee. As well as 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and cousins. Mama Faye will be missed by all her family and friends. We will especially miss her unique Christmas gifts. *******Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2009, at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church of Maysville, with Rev. Charles Henthorn and Rev. Dale Kirkhuff officiating with burial in the Erin Springs Cemetery under the direction of John Williams of Winans Funeral Home, Maysville, OK.
